Post 4. Build your happiness team: 30x30 Happiness Challenge
Recap: The 30x30 Happiness Challenge is a 30-day wellbeing initiative for workplaces, built on the science of positive psychology and designed for action. Employees get activities, managers get prompts, HR gets ready-to-use comms. It’s that easy (& you’re welcome)!
Here’s how to get ready:
• Nominate a small 30x30 Happiness team (HR, 1-2 Managers, 1-2 Senior leaders, Comms, CSR, 1–2 employee wellbeing champions). Remember, a team that is too big means decisions are harder to make and a team that is too small ends up doing all the work!
• Use the bonus section in the HR Playbook to help you with relevant studies strengthening your business case for why happiness at work matters and why this initiative is a good start.
• Assign simple roles: one for activities, one for comms, one for engagement tracking, one for scheduling, etc.
• Hold a planning session to review the 30 days and choose your focus (daily, weekly, or theme-based).
• Use existing comms channels (intranet, newsletters, WhatsApp groups) to cascade announcements, invitations, progress, celebration, etc.
This team doesn’t need to over-engineer — their job is simply to spark interest and energy and then, support. (PS. We’ve provided more activities than are humanly possible to do in 30 days! So, pace yourself. You can extend the 30 days throughout the year).
👉 In the next email, I’ll show you how to equip your people with the Playbooks, but if you want a headstart, check them out on Amazon here.
👉 Know another HR colleague or organization who would benefit from the Happiness Challenge? Feel free to forward this email and help spread the word, or have them reach out directly at [email protected].
