Psychological Capability for Life and Work
Modern life demands more than intelligence and hard work. It requires emotional regulation, resilience under pressure, strategic optimism, and the ability to deliberately build meaning. Most professionals were never formally taught these skills. Psychological Capability for Life and Work provides structured, evidence-based training in the core psychological capabilities that support performance, wellbeing, and long-term growth.
Join Us >What you will be able to do
- Respond to uncertainty with balanced optimism rather than automatic negativity.
- Approach challenge with a growth mindset and deliberate learning strategy.
- Recover from setbacks efficiently instead of avoiding risk.
- Regulate difficult emotions without being driven by them.
- Set boundaries clearly and ask directly for what you need.
- Generate positive emotional experiences intentionally rather than waiting for them.
Capability Changes Outcomes
If you develop these psychological capabilities, your decisions improve. Your reactions become more deliberate. Your work and relationships become more intentional rather than reactive.
The barrier between where you are and where you want to be is rarely talent or intelligence. More often, it is the absence of trained psychological skills.
These skills can be learned. With structure and practice, they compound over time.

What my students are saying
Davide, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
“Being happy involves actual skills used consistently. To be honest, I don’t use all of the skills – you’ll see there are many – but those I use, work for me. I’ve changed 2 major things in my life as a result and that made the course worthwhile. But I also noticed that I started talking about why you should be more optimistic and have a growth mindset with my own clients! I guess things stuck more than I expected.”
Elena, British expat working in Spain
"The course gave me comfort in knowing I wasn’t alone. I took this course being a little skeptical, honestly. But it’s been the year to change things in my life and I wanted to do it right. Dr. Louise is good at saying, ‘just like all of us here’. The course is science based so it respects your intelligence, but it’s also done casually and with humour in many places so it’s easy to digest. She’s rather good at demystifying life."
Inside the program
Life Direction: Clarifying Intentional Direction
Before skill development, there must be direction. This opening module helps you assess where you are operating reactively and define the direction you want your decisions to serve.
Focus: Intentionality, self-assessment, future orientation.
Module 1: Growth Mindset and Self-Efficacy
High performers treat challenge as data, not threat. This module builds learning orientation, strengthens self-efficacy, and develops the discipline of seeking feedback without ego defensiveness.
Capabilities Developed: Adaptive learning, feedback integration, cognitive flexibility.
Module 2: Strategic Optimism
Optimism without realism is naïve. Pessimism without strategy is paralysis. This module teaches you how to deploy both appropriately depending on context, risk, and reward.
Capabilities Developed: Balanced thinking, future planning, constructive self-talk.
Module 3: Emotion Regulation Under Pressure
Emotions are signals, not instructions. This module develops emotional granularity, physiological down-regulation skills, cognitive reframing, and assertive communication.
Capabilities Developed: Emotional processing speed, boundary setting, physiological control.
Module 4: Meaning as a Performance Asset
Meaning is not abstract philosophy. It is a buffer against stress and aimlessness. This module helps you articulate a personal philosophy and translate meaning into daily action at work and in life.
Capabilities Developed: Purpose alignment, stress buffering, intrinsic motivation.
Module 5: Stress Management and Friction Reduction
Not all stress is equal. Some is structural. Some is unnecessary friction. This module teaches you to distinguish between the two and remove avoidable strain.
Capabilities Developed: Stress differentiation, physical recovery habits, cognitive boundary setting.
Module 6: Financial Psychology and Material Discipline
Money decisions influence wellbeing more than most people admit. This module examines materialism, spending psychology, and structured financial boundaries that support long-term stability.
Capabilities Developed: Financial awareness, delayed gratification, value alignment.
Module 7: Failing Better and Developing Grit
Failure is unavoidable. Prolonged identity collapse is not. This module builds self-compassion, reduces avoidance, and strengthens resilience after setbacks.
Capabilities Developed: Recovery speed, perseverance, self-correction.
Module 8: Designing Intentional Joy
Positive emotion is not accidental. It can be cultivated. This module applies the Broaden and Build model to help you deliberately generate positive emotional states that expand thinking and strengthen relationships.
Capabilities Developed: Emotional amplification, savoring, daily experience design.
Closing Module: Integration and Application
Skill without application fades. This final module consolidates learning, identifies habit anchors, and structures next-step implementation.
Focus: Habit formation, integration, long-term continuation.
