What We Do

At Happiness Matters

We design structured, evidence-based psychological capability programs for life and work. We translate the science of happiness into practical behavioral and emotional skills that strengthen performance, relationships, and health.

We work with leaders, managers, organizations, and individuals to operationalize wellbeing in measurable ways. Happiness is not a mood or a slogan. It is a set of trainable psychological assets that influence how we function under pressure, connect with others, and sustain high performance over time.

Dr. Louise Lambert

Happiness is often misunderstood. In science, it refers to measurable psychological assets that shape how we think, perform, relate, and sustain health over time.

Research shows that individuals with stronger psychological wellbeing learn faster, recover more efficiently from setbacks, build stronger relationships, and show higher levels of productivity and engagement. These outcomes are not accidental, but associated with trainable capabilities such as optimism, emotional regulation, persistence, social connection, and meaning.

For more than 20 years, I've studied, applied, and evaluated these capabilities across academic, healthcare, and organizational settings. As a Registered Psychologist (Canada), researcher, consultant, and Editor of the Middle East Journal of Positive Psychology, my work focuses on translating positive psychology into practical systems that improve how people function in real environments.

Through leadership programs, healthcare integration, training, and applied research, I help individuals and organizations build psychological capability deliberately rather than leaving it to chance.

Happiness indeed matters because how we feel shapes how we function.

Workplace Wellbeing: The "Thrive365" Series

Managers: The Micro-Actions of Wellbeing

8-10 modules x 90-120 minutes

Managers shape daily experience more than any other factor at work. Research consistently shows that managerial behavior accounts for a substantial proportion of employee wellbeing, engagement, and retention.

This program adopts a behavioral approach to leadership. Rather than encouraging managers to simply “care about” wellbeing, it equips them with observable skills that improve team functioning and reduce unnecessary friction.

Managers learn to:

• Build high-quality connections that strengthen trust and psychological safety
• Enable task success through clear expectations and supportive structure
• Recognize early signs of strain and respond appropriately
• Address relational tension and workplace incivility constructively
• Model the behaviors that shape emotional climate and performance

The result is improved team cohesion, stronger relational capital, and more manageable leadership roles.

Senior Leaders: A Primer in Workplace Wellbeing

2 hours

Wellbeing initiatives succeed or fail based on senior leadership engagement. Without ownership, accountability, and behavioral alignment at the top, programs lose momentum and rarely deliver measurable return. Leadership behavior directly influences engagement, retention, productivity, and health-related absence. When senior leaders actively prioritize wellbeing as a strategic asset, outcomes shift.

This executive workshop focuses on:

• The business case for wellbeing as a performance and risk management strategy
• Clarifying what wellbeing is and what it is not
• Case examples and lessons from cross-industry implementation
• The specific leadership behaviors required to ensure measurable impact

This program is particularly suited to organizations evaluating whether wellbeing should be a strategic priority and what leadership commitment it truly requires. Financial investment alone is insufficient. Leadership behavior determines whether wellbeing becomes symbolic or systemic.

For Employees: Workplace Incivilities

75 minutes

Workplace incivilities are small acts of disrespect that carry disproportionate cost. From withholding information and excluding colleagues to broken commitments and dismissive communication, these behaviors erode trust, increase stress, and contribute to absenteeism and turnover.

Research shows that chronic exposure to incivility affects wellbeing and performance as significantly as more visible organizational stressors. Left unaddressed, these behaviors spread and normalize.

This session equips employees to:

• Identify common forms of incivility and their impact
• Respond with appropriate levels of directness and professionalism
• Rebuild strained working relationships
• Contribute to a more respectful, psychologically safe environment

When addressed constructively, everyday behaviors can shift culture quickly.

For Employees: Building Wellbeing at Work

1 day

It is not enough to reduce distress. Sustainable performance requires the presence of wellbeing. Research consistently shows that individuals who report higher life satisfaction also demonstrate greater engagement, stronger relationships, improved learning capacity, and better health outcomes at work.

This full-day workshop moves beyond conversations about preventing burnout and instead focuses on actively building psychological assets that enhance both personal and professional functioning.

Grounded in evidence-based positive psychology, participants learn to:

• Understand the role of positive emotions in performance and how to intentionally generate them through humour, savoring, and realistic optimism
• Strengthen relationships through capitalization, gratitude, and appreciation
• Use prosocial behaviour and everyday acts of kindness to increase trust and cooperation
• Apply life crafting principles to align daily work with broader life direction

The emphasis is practical application. Participants leave with skills they can use immediately to improve their own wellbeing and contribute positively to the emotional climate of their teams.

Lunch & Learn Sessions

1 hour

Short, focused sessions designed to introduce practical wellbeing skills in an accessible format.

Our 60-minute sessions cover topics such as prosocial behaviour, social capital, navigating failure, developing a growth mindset, strategic optimism, joyful living, savoring practices, emotional regulation, and using meaning to buffer stress.

Each session blends research with immediately applicable tools employees can use the same day, strengthening individual capability while reinforcing a healthier workplace culture.

Teams: Building Wellbeing Together

6 weeks

While managers play a critical role in shaping culture, colleagues remain one of the most powerful and underutilized sources of everyday wellbeing at work.

This session focuses on strengthening team-level capability to create trust, elevate one another, and embed practical behaviours that sustain a healthy working environment.

Participants learn how to:

• Apply positive social influence to strengthen morale and cooperation
• Build trust through consistent, respectful engagement
• Address strained relationships constructively
• Notice when peers may be struggling and respond appropriately
• Integrate newcomers effectively and advocate for others’ strengths

The emphasis is collective responsibility. Sustainable wellbeing does not sit with one role. It is reinforced daily through peer interactions, micro-behaviours, and shared standards of conduct.

Nationalization Programs

Character Strengths Development for National Youth

Nationalization programs are moving full-speed across the Gulf (GCC) nations. The private sector and national youth can both benefit by incorporating our character strengths development programs into the onboarding process. To prepare young nationals for the rigors of work, we use a character strengths approach built on the psychological competencies underlying the development of 21st century work skills. We incorporate role play activities, self-assessments and practical tasks in collaboration with managers, who also benefit from identifying and deploying their own strengths. The goal of this program is the development of greater persistence, integrity, social intelligence, emotional self-regulation, humility, and other psychosocial skills that enable success at work. This program is ideal with the participation of managers and fosters better relationships between national youth and their workplaces.

Return to Work

Unemployed individuals can also benefit from discovering and developing their character strengths and deploying these towards their participation in the labour market. This program considers the emotional consequences of being out of work and the need to restore one’s sense of identity, integrity, and self-efficacy. The 6-week program is best undertaken within existing social and financial assistance programs and serves as the missing psychological link to spark a desire to keep searching for work. Studies show that identifying strengths has positive impacts on depression, self-esteem, psychological distress, and wellbeing. Young adults who receive strengths-based training are more likely to be employed post-intervention and tend to have increased earning power over time. The strengths covered in this program include: Perspective, Open-Mindedness; Emotional Self-Regulation; Hope & Optimism; and Persistence & Bravery.

Visioning and Planning for National Wellbeing

Based on academic research and government experience as an official in the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada, Deputy Canadian Ambassador to the UAE, Palestine, and other regions, we are especially proud to offer a Master Class in “Building Wellbeing into National Policy” for post-secondary students studying in political science, sociology, diplomacy, or international affairs. It may also interest government leaders, ministers, policy practitioners and other relevant organizations across the region. This course introduces concepts of happiness and wellbeing as they apply to public policy-making and focuses on how to best design, implement, and measure happiness and wellbeing policies. Such policies can address challenges such as community growth, human capital, and socio-economic development.

Healthcare Institutions

Healthcare Workers

Sustainable care depends on the wellbeing of those who deliver it. Healthcare professionals operate under sustained pressure, complex decision-making demands, and high emotional load. Addressing burnout and reducing risk factors is necessary, but insufficient on its own.

Our approach focuses on building psychological capability as a professional asset. Positive emotions, meaning, connection, and realistic optimism are not abstract concepts; they are performance resources associated with improved decision-making, teamwork, safety outcomes, and personal health.

This program equips healthcare workers with evidence-based skills that can be applied both personally and in patient-facing contexts. Participants learn to:

• Regulate emotional responses under pressure
• Strengthen relational care through trust-building behaviors
• Integrate wellbeing practices into patient interactions
• Reinforce meaning and purpose within clinical roles

By embedding psychological capability into everyday practice, organizations reduce burnout risk, strengthen retention, and improve quality of care.

All programs incorporate validated measurement tools to ensure impact.

Patients

Healthcare outcomes improve when treatment addresses more than symptoms. Alongside clinical care, psychosocial assets such as optimism, meaning, connection, and perceived support influence recovery trajectories and long-term health behaviours.

Research consistently shows that higher subjective wellbeing is associated with stronger treatment adherence, healthier daily behaviours, faster recovery, lower inflammation, and reduced readmissions, including within GCC populations.

Our patient-facing programs introduce evidence-based positive psychology interventions that can be delivered through existing clinical teams. These interventions are designed to:

• Strengthen self-efficacy and active coping
• Support adherence and engagement in treatment
• Reinforce meaning and connection during recovery
• Improve overall life satisfaction alongside clinical outcomes

These programs complement standard care pathways and can also function as structured health promotion initiatives.

Spa and Wellness

Spa and Wellness

Today’s guests want more than relaxation. They are looking for renewal that extends beyond their stay. While diagnostics, recovery protocols, nutrition, and longevity treatments address physical health, psychological wellbeing remains one of the most powerful and underdesigned drivers of long-term health and life satisfaction.

Psychosocial assets such as positive emotion, meaning, social connection, optimism, and emotional regulation are associated with stronger immune function, lower inflammation, improved stress recovery, and enhanced quality of life.

Our approach embeds evidence-based positive psychology into the guest journey. Programs are structured to cultivate capabilities that travel home with the guest, strengthening their ability to function well long after departure.

Through guided reflection, savoring practices, emotional regulation training, and connection-building rituals, guests develop practical psychological tools.

We also strengthen internal capability. Teams are trained to apply positive psychology principles within service delivery, aligning guest experience with employee wellbeing.
