Holidays: Unscripted.
Welcome to the Good Life Chronicles, where living a good life takes center stage.
I've made a shorter post today because it's December 24th.
And we all know what that means.
For some, the holidays are a season of joy, gatherings, and endless plans. For others, they’re a calendar full of obligations that leave little room to breathe. If you’re one of those people who overschedules your holidays—only to need another holiday after the holiday—consider this your direct reminder: you’re allowed to cancel, decline, or simply do less.
You don’t owe anyone your constant availability. You’re allowed to rest, say no, and take a morning, heck, even an entire day to yourself. And yes, it’s perfectly fine to clean your closets, go for a run, or listen to a podcast on marine life. Because honestly, when else are you going to do it? Sometimes restoring order and meeting your own needs for a change are their own kind of peace.

On the other hand, if you’re someone who loves solitude, this might be the perfect time to reconnect and meet a friend for lunch, visit the zoo for a change, or even book that short trip you’ve been putting off. It might even include some social mingling if only to remind yourself that you still can hold a conversation and you are still hilarious and people like you. The goal isn’t to copy or compete with someone else’s version of the holidays, it’s to find what nourishes you and adds to your version of the Good Life.
Holidays can be both too social and too quiet, too busy and too still. The balance lies in doing them your way.
Forget the “shoulds.”
This is your time too.
So before you slide into January wishing it had gone differently, pause and ask yourself: What would make this holiday feel good for you?
Then do that—and call it your Good Life moment of the season.
How you are making this holiday break a Good Life moment?
